The Town of Groton, incorporated in 1655, is a lovely New England village nestled on the banks of the Nashua and Squannacook Rivers and is the home of two well known private schools, Groton School and Lawrence Academy. Majestic antique homesteads, faded red barns, rolling apple orchards, colonial stone walls and family farm stands all contribute to Groton's charm.
The community prides itself on the numerous acres within the town protected as conservation lands and on the open spaces for swimming, fishing, canoeing, hiking, riding and cross country skiing, as well for being the center for several cultural groups and organizations. For 27 years Groton has been home of the National Sheply Hill Horse Trials as well as host, since 1987, of the New England Horse training championships that draws visitors and competitors from all across New England.
